Session Information/ FAQS

  • WHEN TO BOOK YOUR SESSION FOR A NEWBORN..

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under two weeks of age, after two weeks babies are a little harder to settle and things like colic and baby acne can start to flare up. Otherwise for baby and family portraits feel free to contact me to arrange a photoshoot as soon as possible. You can contact us at any time during your pregnancy to give me an estimated due date, we will then make a tentative booking and when you arrive home from hospital with your brand new baby you can contact us to arrange a suitable time and day for your session.

  • WHEN IS THE BEST TIME IN YOUR PREGNANCY TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED..

The best time to photograph your bump is between 34 - 36 weeks. At this stage of your pregnancy you have a nice round bump but it is not yet too uncomfortable to get in some of the poses.

  • WHERE YOUR SESSION IS HELD..

If you choose to have an indoor photo session, it will take place in in our photographic studio in Clapham Junction, London, Sw115ql.

  • WILL FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY HARM YOUR BABY..

DEFINETELY not, we have never witnessed a baby react to the flash, asleep or awake. The light that is emitted from OUR studio equipment is no brighter than that which comes through your window at home on a bright overcast day.

  • .HOW LONG WILL YOUR SESSION TAKE …

A family or baby Photo session normally can take 2 - 2.5 hours, but newborn sessions can take 3-4 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding and comforting.

  • DO I NEED TO BRING ANY PROPS OR ACCESSORIES TO MY NEWBORN SESSION

There is no need to, as we have a LOT of beautiful props and accessories. However, if you have something special that you would like us to include in your pictures, please feel free to bring it along. We have a selection of outfits, fabrics and accessories that we can use to style your session.

  • WHY IS A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOSHOOT SO EXPENSIVE

Custom portraiture is a one-of-a-kind experience. Custom photography is a very special and requires an investment of trust in the person that will be working with your baby.
This is not just paying for the actual photograph, you’re paying for time, experience and investment that photographer has put into their business. We have taken years to perfect our skills. We only use the best equipment to provide you with the best images you can get.
The cost of props, outfits, back drops, and equipment (lights, lenses, camera, online backup, software), rent, insurance and taxes is really huge.

  • It’s not just a photo session that you’re paying for. It’s the hours spent before, prepping and designing a session tailored just to you.
    – Setup, preparation, talking to the client, etc.
    – 2 – 4 hours shooting the photos
    – clear up the studio
    – load images onto a computer
    – back up the files on an external drive

    - 4 - 5 hours of Adobe Photoshop time, including cropping, contrast, colour grading, sharpening, and backing up edited photographs.
    – 1 – 2 hours answer questions, process the order, order their prints, receive and verify prints, package prints, schedule deliveries, and post.

I believe that photography is a personal and important investment. Hopefully this will help you  understand  why Custom Photography is more expensive. All photographers have different styles of photography, so not everyone will choose the same Photographer, but just make sure you chose your Photographer because you love their work, and not because they may be cheaper.  Remember they are creating your memories which you will keep forever.
